Jessie Verlene Underwood, age 81, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, departed this life on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Washington Regional Hospital, in Fayetteville. Daughter of Verdis and Doris (Bland) Hall, Verlene was born on July 11, 1941, in Mammoth Springs, Arkansas. On April 19, 1960, in Salem, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Underwood, and they would share sixty-two wonderful years together. Verlene was a member of the First Baptist Church in Thayer, Missouri. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and as a friend to many.

In addition to her husband, Kenneth, Verlene is survived by four children, Cyndi Underwood, Mike Underwood and his wife Joy, Kamie Doctor and her husband Matt, Steve Underwood and his wife Dayna; five grandchildren, Donald Doctor, Stephanie Mink and her husband Josh, Segan Underwood, Kelsea Martin and her husband Brandon, Lucas Underwood; one great-grandson, Han Martin; sister-in-law, Jenny Underwood; and a host of nieces and nephews; as well as countless friends.

Verlene was preceded in death by her parents, Verdis and Doris Hall; one sister, Carma; and one brother, Don.

A Celebration Of Life will be held at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Cremations Only, L.L.C. of Springdale.
